Recruitment and Retention of Women in Skilled Trades and Technical Profession

Woman welding

Women's Network PEI received Government of Canada funding to complete a two-year project to increase women's engagement in skilled professional trades and technical professions. Partnerships were created with employers, sector councils, labour and industry leaders, educational institutions and other organizations to support women's recruitment and retention in these fields. Efforts to sustain the project's successes led to the incorporation of Praxis, an organization devoted to putting learning into practice.

“I had never thought seriously of pursuing a career in a skilled professional trade, partly because I believed I would have to leave the Island to do so. Thanks to this amazing project, I am able to follow my career at home and continue to benefit from the connections I made while it was underway.”
