Annette Verschuren: Canadian Pioneer

Find out more about Women's History Month.

Annette Verschuren: Canadian Pioneer

I'm just a farmer's daughter from Cape Breton,
Nova Scotia and, you know, I dream big.
I've been in the coal mining business,
in the home improvement business,
now I'm in the energy business.
I haven't shied away from any male-dominated businesses
Every step of the way there are challenges.
It doesn't matter whether you're a man or a woman,
perhaps women a bit more, but it's changing, it's improving.
And I've seen enormous progress over my 37 years.
But enormous progress in terms of moving forward.
Don't limit yourself by thinking you can't.
And I say that to men and women but particularly I want to
deliver that message to women.
You're as capable as anybody on the planet.
