Cora Mussely Tsouflidou - Stories - Women's History Month 2014

The story of my business is really a story of survival.
After a difficult divorce, I was alone
with three children to raise and no alimony.
I had to figure something out, so like many women,
I got a job at a restaurant,
and a few years later I opened my own restaurant.
I sold the house and made a $20, 000 profit
between the balance of the mortgage I had to pay
the bank and the purchase price, so I took that money
and bought a small canteen, the first Cora's.
We took all the dishes from our kitchen,
and the 4-person table in that little snack bar
was our kitchen table.
I told my kids: "Don't worry...we're going to
roll up our sleeves and we'll get through this.
And in any case, we'll have a little restaurant,
so we'll never go hungry!"
Today's women have to believe that anything is possible.
And if they hear the whisperings of a small entrepreneur
inside them, they should listen!
