Purpose: This 36 month-project will address the issue of violence against Aboriginal women and girls living in the La Loche and Clearwater Dene Nation in northern Saskatchewan. The project will examine the root causes and the current state of domestic violence in the two communities through a series of focus groups that will look at how girls, women and other community members experience gender based violence. Participants will represent a cross-section of the communities, including men, women, youth, and elders. These activities will lead to the development of a community action plan to address violence faced by Aboriginal women in the community.
