Purpose: This 36-month project will develop and implement a community plan to increase the economic security of women in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. To develop the plan, women who have experienced financial insecurity will be recruited early in the process to build on their knowledge and involve them in all aspects of community plan development. Economic security will be examined in terms of employment (including self-employment and social entrepreneurship), affordable housing, childcare, transportation, financial literacy, access to training, and education. The plan will include analysis of existing institutional mechanisms, supports, and gaps in these areas.
