Purpose: This 24 month project will work to increase leadership opportunities for young women aged 15-24 in five geographically isolated island communities in the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia. The project will examine how girls and young women can be supported to engage in civic matters in an isolated environment. A youth advisory council will be formed as a mechanism for girls and young women to guide the project, identify specific actions, and implement community-based projects addressing barriers to their engagement in community life.
