Purpose: This 24-month project will address the institutional barriers and other factors that limit community efforts to prevent and reduce violence against First Nations women and girls in the community of Wabasca-Desmarais in Northern Alberta. A steering committee comprised of women, men and community stakeholders will be established to guide and oversee the project. In partnership with local stakeholders, promising strategies to address violence against women and girls will be identified and piloted in the community. Results will be shared with other Aboriginal communities working to address the same issue.
