Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: Women in Mining Canada
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Date: 2013-12-19
Value: $250,000.00
Type: Contribution
Purpose: This 36-month project will increase the participation of women, including Aboriginal women, in the mining industry in rural and remote communities in British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon and Ontario. Through the project, industry associations, mining companies, academic institutions and gender experts will be engaged throughout the project, including in the development of a ‘Women In Mining Action Plan’. A committee of experts in the mining field will identify community partners and develop individual community action plans that will support a national initiative. These individual plans could target specific priorities such as policy changes, training, and leadership development, dependent on regionally identified need, in order to increase women’s participation in the mining industry.
