Purpose: This 36 month project will focus on identifying barriers to women’s participation and advancement in the mining industry in Canada. A Gender Champions Taskforce, comprised of industry executives of Canadian mining companies, will be created to examine barriers that are impeding women’s advancement in the industry, such as promotion policies and procedures. Through the project, tools and resources – such as inclusion policies and equitable hiring procedures - will be developed to address the identified barriers and piloted within the Taskforce members’ companies. Best practices, tools and resources will then be disseminated to industry stakeholders at the regional and national level to support them in implementing changes to their policies, procedures and processes.
