Purpose: This 36-month project will work to increase the safety and reduce the vulnerability of low-income and Aboriginal women leaving domestic violence situations across Alberta by improving access to basic service needs. A collaborative model for community responses, which will integrate cross-sectoral training, will be developed with key stakeholders including women victims, justice, police services and community leaders. It will be piloted in two communities, one rural and one urban, and evaluated. Lessons learned will be integrated into partners’ training programs and disseminated through the provincial network of shelters.
