Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Recipient Name: YWCA Halifax
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Date: 2016-05-25
Value: $50,000.00
Type: Grant
Purpose: This is a supplement to the following 24-month project which addressed institutional barriers and other factors that limit the efforts of mainland Nova Scotian communities to address the issue of cyberviolence against young women and girls. The project engaged young women to act as leaders to other youth through peer-led consultations to identify the issues of cyberviolence affecting young women and girls. Key stakeholders collaboratively responded to the specific needs of young women and girls through the development of a strategy to prevent or eliminate cyberviolence. Young women expanded their understanding of the issues and, in partnership with community stakeholders, helped carry out strategies to prevent this form of gender-based violence across the province. Supplement: Supplemental funding will support work on key strategies identified to address cyberviolence including, the establishment of a provincial cyberviolence network; the creation of a collaborative response protocol resource; and, the development of a peer-led gender-based anti-cyberviolence curriculum.
Comments: Multi-year project
